One of the biggest questions I get on my social media pages is “have you ever soaked?” It’s a question which I can’t answer fully because the answer would be for mature audiences only. Today, for the first time ever, I feel ready to deep dive the topic of “Mormon Soaking” and reply to queries about my involvement in it.

Sex in Mormonism is strictly reserved for husbands and wives legally and lawfully wedded. There is no tolerance whatsoever for premarital or extramarital sex, and fornication is called by the Prophet Spencer W Kimball, in his book “The Miracle of Forgiveness”, the sin next to murder. Yes, on the Mormon list of deadly sins, Jeffery Dahmer and the girl at girls camp I shared a tent with who later had sex with her boyfriend at prom are separated by only one degree.

Part of the reason that sin is so deeply condemned is that the procreative powers are considered godly, and are thereby reserved for use only by people who are acting in behalf of Heavenly Father to bring spirit children to earth within the bonds of marriage. Sex isn’t necessarily inherently bad, but the creation of life outside of marriage is pure evil, according to the Mormon church.
